New podcast available now!

On our new podcast, we discuss some of the more...ummm...unusual stories making news across the globe, just in case you missed them.

An example? Sure!

Think Tiffanys selling an 18-karat gold paperclip for $2500; or Tom Cruise announcing he'll be shooting a movie in space with NASA; or the football club in Seoul who got themselves into hot water after using sex dolls to replace the crowd in an empty stadium. That kinda thing.

Available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Enjoy, with thanks to Byron Bay Peanut Butter!

Animal House: Live Stream Melbourne Zoo

Current

Zoos Victoria has launched a live streaming service so animal lovers can stay connected with some of their favourite animals from home, work or anywhere else they want.

Melbourne Zoo is live streaming from the den of its adorable snow leopard cubs, who were born on Australia Day and are increasingly active and exploring their world close to mum Miska. The Zoo's penguins are also starring in their very own live stream, as are Melbourne Zoo's graceful giraffes, including recent arrival Klintun. Lion lovers can also keep an eye on Werribee Open Range Zoo's lion pride.

Can't see them? That's because the animals live in areas that are much bigger than what a camera can capture and they have the choice to wander wherever they please. Check back in later to spot them. #AnimalsAtHome

National Tree Planting Day

Sunday 2 August, 2020

This site contains remanent Banksia Coastal Woodland, and was selected as it acts as an important habitat corridor between Seaford Wetlands, Kananook Creek and the Seaford and Frankston foreshores. Habitat corridors are essential to help reduce the negative effects of fragmentation in our natural landscapes.

FCC Natural Reserves Rangers have been preparing the site since August 2019, with woody weed removal, mulching and placement of habitat logs. This year they  will be planting 3500 indigenous tree, shrubs, grasses and ground cover species. Bring your friends and family and enjoy a few hours of contributing to Frankston Cities Natural Reserves.

What to wear: warm clothing and waterproof jacket (weather depending), sturdy shoes, and a hat. Limited Gloves available if you have your own please bring them.

BBQ and refreshments provided after the planting. Entry to Armstrong Reserve is on Railway Pde. On street parking is available along Railway Parade and side streets. It is encouraged that people walk or ride where possible.

Where: Armstrongs Reserve, Railway parade Seaford
